Thinking About a Career in Tech? Here’s Why a Level 2 Qualification Is the Perfect Place to Start

Build Your Future in Tech with Code Nation

Whether you’re looking for a new career, returning to work, or simply ready to learn something new, our fully funded Level 2 digital courses are designed to help you take that first step into the tech industry.

Delivered in partnership with Trafford & Stockport College Group, our Adult Skills programmes give you the practical skills, confidence and recognised qualifications employers are looking for. Best of all, if you’re eligible for government funding, there’s no cost to you.

Why this matters

One thing I’ve learned from working in adult education is that people rarely lack the ability to work in tech. More often, they lack the confidence to believe it’s an option for them.

As Delivery Lead for Adult Skills at Code Nation, I work with people from all kinds of backgrounds. People changing careers, returning to work, or simply looking to learn something new. Many arrive unsure as to whether they’re “technical enough”, only to then go on and surprise themselves of what they’re capable of.

That’s why I’m so passionate about the programmes we deliver. We don’t just teach coding, cyber security, data analysis or games design; we create an environment where people can develop practical skills, build confidence and discover that a career in tech might be much more achievable than they first thought.

So regardless of where you come from, our fully funded Level 2 digital courses are designed to help you take that first step into the tech industry.

Why now

The world of work is changing rapidly. Technology now plays a role in almost every industry, from healthcare and finance to retail, manufacturing and the creative sector. Even jobs that wouldn’t traditionally have been considered “tech careers” increasingly rely on digital skills.

At the same time, many people are facing uncertainty as industries evolve, roles change, and employers look for new skills. Developing your digital confidence can help you stay competitive, open up new career opportunities, or simply give you the confidence to adapt as the workplace continues to change.

Our aim isn’t just to help people achieve a qualification, but to equip them with practical skills that are relevant in today’s workplace and the confidence to keep learning long after the course has finished.

Choose the Path That's Right for You

Our Level 2 programmes are designed for beginners, so you don’t need any previous technical experience.

You can choose from:

  • Coding – Learn HTML, CSS and Python while building websites and developing your own text-based game.
  • Cyber Security – Explore cyber threats, digital forensics, networks and security tools through practical, hands-on activities.
  • Data Analysis – Learn how to analyse data using Microsoft Excel and Power BI to create meaningful insights and visualisations.
  • Games Design & Development – Design, build and test your own 2D game while learning the fundamentals of game development.

Each course is designed to help you build practical skills and create work that demonstrates what you can do, not just what you know.

Why Learn with Code Nation?

We know choosing the right provider is just as important as choosing the right course.

That’s why our programmes are built around live, interactive learning. From day one, you’ll be taught by experienced instructors in real-time online sessions where you can ask questions, take part in discussions, and work alongside other learners. You’re never left to work through recorded videos on your own.

Our courses are hands-on from the start. Rather than simply reading about technology, you’ll build websites, analyse data, investigate cyber security scenarios, or develop your own game, depending on the course you choose. By the time you finish, you’ll have practical projects you can use as evidence of your new skills.

Throughout your course you’ll receive ongoing support from your instructors, regular feedback, and encouragement to help you succeed, whatever your starting point.

More Than Just a Qualification

Completing your course is only the beginning.

Every learner receives employability support, including help with CV writing, LinkedIn profiles, interview preparation and job searching. You’ll also gain access to our Opportunities Portal, connecting you with current vacancies, apprenticeships and progression opportunities.

Flexible Online Learning

Our courses are delivered remotely, allowing you to learn from home while still benefiting from live teaching and tutor support.

Could You Be Eligible?

Our Adult Skills courses are fully funded for eligible learners living in Greater Manchester.

Eligibility depends on things like your age, income, where you live and your previous qualifications. If you’re unsure whether you qualify, don’t let that put you off. Our team will talk you through everything and let you know what’s available for your circumstances.

Take Your First Step

A career in technology doesn’t have to start with years of experience, it starts with learning the right skills in the right environment.

If you’re ready to invest in yourself, develop in-demand digital skills and join a supportive learning community, we’d love to help you take that first step.
